On Friday 19th April, 2013, the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre had the pleasure of welcoming Gillian Gale to the Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Gillian incredibly raised over £1000 for the Eye Tumour Research Fund, a charity very close to her heart after being diagnosed with uveal melanoma herself.
Together with the support of friends and family, Gillian set about organising a wine tasting evening at Liverpool Albert Docks- La Vinea, to raise money for the fund and to say a special thank you to the hospital staff.
Gillian was blown away by the level of support gained from the local community and businesses, many of whom provided amazing raffle prizes on the night. Local musician, Peter Raven, kindly provided the musical entertainment on the night which really set the event off with a bang! The grand total of the fundraiser was further boosted by her friends ‘solo Santa dash’ in December 2012.
Amazingly Gillian’s nephew is next to take up the fundraising gauntlet! In August this year her nephew, Andrew Hall, is set to raise money for the unit via an open water swim in London’s Royal Albert Dock.
