Mr Michael Staunton
MRes Student

Michael completed a one year MRes in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine with LOORG in June 2012. As an intercalating student of the University of Liverpool (School of Medicine), Michael's projects included:

1. Detection of pro- and anti-angiogenic forms of VEGF in uveal melanoma by RT-PCR. 2. Establishing an experimental chick embryo model for the investigation of uveal melanoma metastases.

MRes Student

Sohaib completed a one year MRes in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine with LOORG in June 2012. As an intercalating student of the University of Liverpool (School of Medicine), Sohaib's projects included: 

 “Role of BAP1 in uveal melanoma”
1. Immunohistochemical detection of BAP1 protein in tissue microarrays. 2. Mutational analysis and immunofluorescent detection of BAP1 in uveal melanoma cell lines. 3. siRNA knock-down of BAP1 in uveal melanoma cell lines.

MRes Student: 2011-2012

Ahmed completed a one year MRes in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine with LOORG in June 2012. As an intercalating student of the University of Liverpool (School of Medicine), Ahmed's projects included:

1.
Fluorescent in situ hybridisation detection of A20 gene deletions in ocular adnexal lymphoma. 2. Immunohistochemicl detection of FOXP1, Ki67 and Bcl-6 in ocular adnexal lymphoma. 3. Extraction of mRNA and miRNAs from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue samples.

Dr Fidan Jmor
MRes Student: 2009-2010

Fidan completed the laboratory research component of her MRes degree with the LOORG performing three research projects from 2009 to 2010, resulting in two publications. Fidan received several accolades for her research work including winning the Pathology/Oncolgy poster prize at the European Association for Vision and Eye Research Autumn Meeting in 2010.
