Women in science & research

14/10/2013

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) is one of the largest organisations in both basic and translational eye research.  The
conference takes place every Spring and attracts about 7000 attendees.

Following Prof. Sarah Coupland's election as Board member in May 2013, Sarah is keen to highlight the importance of women’s career development in science - something that is particularly important both to ARVO and the
Athena
Swan
programme at the University of Liverpool.

The current President of ARVO, Dr Justine Smith, is also keen to encourage female progression in vision and eye research.
