Congratulations to University of Liverpool medical student, Michael Staunton, who successfully cycled over 110 miles to raise money for the Eye Tumour Research Fund!

The idea of a charity c“eye”cle ride came about in 2011, when Michael began studying towards his MRes in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine with the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Research Group (LOORG). As an intercalating student, Michael witnessed first-hand the benefits of having a world class clinical practise at the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital Trust, and the research opportunities available thanks to the Eye Tumour Research Fund.

Michael set off on the 10 hour route from Liverpool to his home town of Eccelshall, Staffordshire, during the May bank holiday weekend. Michael was delighted by the generosity of family, colleagues and friends who have supported him, as he fundraised over £400.

2012 is Merseyside and Cheshire’s Year of Action on Cancer. If you would like to make a donation to the Eye Tumour Research Fund, please click HERE.

Thank you.
