On Thursday 22nd November, 2012, the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre (Royal Liverpool University Hospital Trust) had the pleasure of welcoming married couple Tracy and Rob Cirin to the unit.
Aged just 30; Tracy was diagnosed with an eye tumour in 2010 whilst 24 weeks pregnant with twins. Tracy was closely monitored by the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, a specialist centre of excellence in the UK, and with the loving support of her husband underwent treatment.
Less than one year after her diagnosis, Tracy remarkably decided to give something back and take part in the Great Eastern Half Marathon in 2011. Sadly due to complications with Tracy's eye she wasn't able to take part in the race on the day and her husband Robert Cirin had to run the race without her.
A year on however, Tracy is doing wonderfully and in October set her sights on a new challenge, to complete the Cardiff Half Marathon!
This time Tracy, Robert and friends crossed the line holding hands at 2hrs 14minutes.
In total the couple have raised over £5,500 for the Eye Tumour Research Fund in the last two years.
Congratulations and thank you from everyone at LOORG & LOOC.
