Dr Karen Aughton
Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Dr Karen Aughton is a senior post-doctoral researcher focussed on uveal melanoma research. She has a keen interest in developing three-dimensional translational cell models that better represent the in-situ tumour. Currently used two-dimensional cell models are limited and lack the cellular interactions within the tumour itself, and signalling cascades may be adapted as a consequence. Currently, there are limited drug therapies to help in the fight against uveal melanoma once it has metastasised, therefore the ultimate aim of this research is to provide better, more representative models for testing of future drug candidates.
