Rumana is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Ocular Oncology and Vitreoretinal surgery and leads the Vitreoretinal service at the Liverpool University Foundation Trust Hospitals. She did her undergraduate medical degree and MA (Oxon) in Physiological Sciences at Oxford University and did her clinical training at King’s College, London. Her surgical and advanced subspecialist training was undertaken in the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre where she has been involved in clinical research resulting in a high publication output. Having completed her higher MD degree at the University of Liverpool, she is now involved in biocellular research into the effects of radiation on uveal melanoma cell structures in collaboration with the North West Cancer Research Centre as well as the Clatterbridge Douglas Cyclotron, as well as biomedical engineering research on surgical retinal innovations with the Biophysics Department
in the University of Liverpool.
