The Liverpool Ocular Oncology Research Group attended Professor Bertil Damato’s farewell lunch on Friday, organised by the Directorate of the Royal Liverpool Hospital.
Professor Damato was instrumental in establishing the Liverpool Ocular Oncology Centre, and has been driving research into ocular melanoma ever since.
Patients, clinicians, nurses and NHS staff attended in force to thank Prof. Damato for his dedication and hard work in Liverpool over the last twenty years.
Professor Damato will not have a quiet retirement from Liverpool however; instead he is set to embark on a new position in San Francisco.
